PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The United Way of Aroostook is looking for volunteers to serve on their Fund Distribution Task Force. These volunteers will work as a team to review and evaluate funding applications from county-based health and human service agencies.
These volunteers will be identifying and recommending funding levels for programs that are meeting our county’s most crucial needs. The Task Force will meet two times, once for an organizational meeting on April 5 at 3 p.m. at the United Way office at 480 Main St., third floor, Presque Isle, and one all-day session, which will be determined at the first meeting by those who are on the committee.
This “citizen review process” is unique to United Way. No other charity uses this thorough evaluation process to determine the distribution of the funds it raises. And, because the agencies and programs that apply for United Way of Aroostook funding are required to identify specific uses for funding allocations, donors are assured that their contributions are being used where they will do the most good for those county people who really need help.
