Caribou rec department hosts basketball

    CARIBOU, Maine – Local Maine Recreation and Park Association Hotshot Basketball program winners converged on Caribou for the Northern Regional Final Feb. 22 and several won the chance to compete at the state level.
    Over 125 boys and girls vied for the chance to compete at Old Town High School. Winners and runners up are as follows by age, place, competitor, town and total points.
Female
Ages 9 and 10: 1. Carmen Bragg, Washburn, 70; 2. Rachel Gillis, Ashland, 65.
Ages 11 and 12: 1. Parise Rossignol, Van Buren, 92; 2. Amanda Hotham, Fort Fairfield, 86.
Ages 13-15: 1. Rebecca Campbell, Washburn, 90; 2. Emily Blaisdell, Fort Fairfield, 85.
Male
Ages 9 and 10: 1. Corey Nadeau, Madawaska, 126; 2. Noah Bernard, Fort Fairfield, 108.
Ages 11 and 12: 1. Robert Rockwell, Houlton, 120; 2. Dylan Howland, Houlton, 106.
Ages 13-15: 1. Alex Tuttle, Presque Isle, 132; 2. Cole Richards, Presque Isle 127.
Ages 16-18: 1. Doug Sharpe, Fort Fairfield, 113; 2. Dylan Flewelling, Houlton, 94.
The Hotshot program involves shooting from five designated hot spots and tests each contestant’s speed, shooting, dribbling and rebounding ability.
