Porter, Rowena S., 83, died March 21, 2007 at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.     BLAINE – Rowena S. Porter of Blaine, 83, passed away at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on March 21, 2007. Born August 5, 1923 in Corinna, Maine, she was the daughter of Asa and Doris (Perkins) Kinney.
    She was married to the late Alvin F. Porter on June 27, 1945. She retired from the Postal Service after 17 years of service. She was an active member of the Happy Hour Club, Blaine Missionary Society, and the First Free Baptist Church of Blaine. She was church treasurer for many years and served on the Board of Trustees.  She also attended The Chapel in Fort Wayne when staying with her daughter in Indiana.
    She is survived by her son, Richard A. (Pauline) Porter of Blaine, and her daughter, Donna P. (Kevin) Nichols of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Tracey (Steven) Milliard of Blaine and LauraLee (Troy) Durost of Blaine.  She is also survived by her five great-grandchildren – Bailee Durost, Courtney Milliard, Emilee Durost, Logan Milliard, and Will Durost.  She is also survived by four sisters-in-law – Helen Porter of Dade City, Florida; Majorie Porter of
Bridgewater; Rilla Browning of So. Windsor, Connecticut; and Madeline Kinney of Blaine; several nieces and nephews; and her life-long special friend, Charlene Ward. Besides her parents and husband, Rowena is predeceased by her sisters – Hope Lunn of Mars Hill, Irva Buchanan and Amy Marchant of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and one brother, Malcolm A. Kinney of Blaine.
    A Memorial Service was held at the First Free Baptist Church of Blaine on March 27, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. with calling hours from 1:00-2:00 p.m. before the service.  The service was officiated by her long-time friend Pastor Lawrence Beals and her son-in-law Rev. Kevin Nichols. Donations can be made to the church of your choice in her memory.
