County track meet goes on regardless of chill and rain,

The Aroostook County Track Championship was held on May 18 at Caribou High School, despite rain and temperatures in the 40s. The Vikings won both the boys and girls team competition, with Presque Isle following in second for both of their teams.
For the girls, Fort Kent came in third; Fort Fairfield was fourth; and Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics was fifth. On the boys side, Fort Kent took third; Limestone/MSSM was fourth; and Fort Fairfield was fifth.

In the individual events, Jamie Pelletier, of Fort Kent, came in first for the girls 100 meter dash, in 12.6 seconds. Emily Collins, of Caribou, came in second in 13.5; Amber Griffin, of Presque Isle, was third in 13.6; Heather Hathaway, of Fort Fairfield, finished in 14.2; and Victoria Dorman, of Caribou, placed fifth in 14.2.
In the girls 200 meter dash, Fort Kent’s Pelletier again, placed first in 28.6 seconds; Amber Griffin, of Presque Isle, came in second in 29.4; Victoria Dorman placed third in 30.4; Katrina Wittier, of Presque Isle, came in fourth with a time of 30.8; and Sarah Tompkins, of Presque Isle, and Emily Collins, of Caribou High School, tied for fifth in 31.
Katrina Whittier, of Presque Isle, came in first in the 400 meter dash, with a time of 1 minute and 6 seconds; Jamie Pelletier, of Fort Kent, was second in 1:06.5; Krista Buck, of Presque Isle, came in third in 1:08.1; Victoria Dorman, of Caribou, finished in fourth in 1:08.7; Sarah Tompkins, of Presque Isle, finished in fifth, in 1:10.7.
In the girls 800 meter dash, Hannah Saunders, of Caribou, came in first in 2 minutes, 41 seconds; Megan Bossie, of Caribou, finished second in 2:42.4; Kacey Toussaint, of Fort Kent, finished in 2:44.5; Erin Thomas and Jerica Fox, both of Presque Isle, finished in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Kacey Toussaint, of Fort Kent, finished in first in the girls 1,600 meter run, with a time of 5 minutes, 48 seconds; Megan Bossie and Hannah Saunders, both of Caribou, finished in second and third, with times of 5:49 and 5:50, respectively; Erin Thomas, of Presque isle, finished in fourth with a time of 6:06; and Shannon Towle, of Fort Fairfield, finished in fifth with a time of 6:12.
Megan Bossie and Hannah Saunders, both of Caribou, finished in first and second, respectively, in the 3,200 meter run. Katie Buob, of Presque Isle, finished the race in 15:35.7.
In the girls 1,600 meter race walk, Hannah Saunders and Karcynn Dorsey, both of Caribou, finished in first and second, respectively. Saunders completed the race in 8:37 and Dorsey finished in 10:07. Arielle Googins, of Presque Isle, finished in 10:25; Alyssa Ouellette, of Fort Kent, finished in 11:10; and Genevieve Camy, of Caribou, finished in 11:39.
For the girls 100 meter hurdles, Noelle Dubay, of Fort Kent, came in first with a time of 18.6 seconds; Christine Savage, of Caribou, finished in 19.2; Vanessa Pelletier, of Fort Kent, finished in 19.6; Karyn King and Meg Bosse, both of Caribou, finished in fourth and fifth, respectively, in 20.0 and 20.7.
Katrina Whittier, of Presque Isle, finished first in the girls 300 meter hurdles, in 55.1 seconds. Karyn King and Meg Bosse, both of Caribou, finished in second and third place with times of 57.2 and 58.5, respectively; Shannon Towle, of Fort Fairfield, was fourth, with a time of 1:00.2; and Brianna Witmer, of Fort Kent, finished in fifth, with a time of 1:00.7.
In the girls 4×100 meter relay, Caribou’s team of Danielle Lane, Lily Sund, Christine Savage and Emily Collins, finished first in 58.4 seconds. Fort Kent’s Justine Cyr, Sarah Bouchard, Brianna Witmer and Vanessa Pelletier finished in 59.0 seconds. Presque Isle’s Kyrstin Jandreau, Jenna Kitchen, Arielle Googins and Katie Buob, finished in 1:04.6.
For the 4×400 meter relay, Presque Isle came in first with a time of 4:54.9. The team consisted of runners Sarah Tompkins, Erin Thomas, Arielle Googins and Krista Buck, in 4:54.9. Caribou finished in second, in 5:02, with Katelyn Flick, Victoria Dorman, Lily Sund and Megan Bossie participating. Fort Kent was third, with participants Julia Bouchard, Alyssa Ouellette and Bailey Leboeuf running.
Caribou’s 4×800 meter relay team finished in first with a time of 11:49, with Karcynn Dorsey, Katelyn Flick, Janelle Gagnon and Lily Sund participating. PI’s Katie Buob, Jerica Fox, Julia Brown and Erin Thomas finished in second with a time of 11:57.6. Fort Kent finished in third with a time of 12:29.3, with Gabby Naranja, Rene Daigle and Bailey Leboeuf participating.
Amber Griffin placed first in the girls high jump, with a height of 4 feet 6 inches; Noelle Dubay, of Fort Kent, cleared 4-02. Meg Bosse, Karcynn Dorsey and Katelyn Flick, all of Caribou, finished in third through fifth place. Brianna Witmer, of Fort Kent, tied for fifth, clearing 3-06.
Brenna O’Sullivan, of Limestone, finished in first for the girls pole vault by clearing 6 feet. Justine Cyr, of Fort Kent, and Christine Savage, of Caribou, tied for third. Allie Dupont, of Limestone, finished in fourth; and Bailey Leboeuf, of Fort Kent, finished in fifth.
Hilary McNamee, of Fort Fairfield, cleared 14 feet and 4 inches, to get first in the girls long jump. Jamie Pelletier and Noelle Dubay, both of Fort Kent, finished in second and third, respectively, clearing 14 feet. Karyn King, of Caribou, cleared 13-03; and Amber Griffin, of Presque Isle, finished in fifth, clearing 13-01.
Noelle Dubay, of Fort Kent, finished first in the girls triple jump, with a 29 foot, 3-inch effort; Hilary McNamee, of Fort Fairfield, finished second with a 28-09 jump; Karyn King, of Caribou, finished in third with a jump of 27-08; Sarah Bouchard, of Fort Kent, finished in fourth at 26-10; and Alison Blaisdell, of Fort Fairfield, finished in fifth at of 26-08.
In the girls shot put, Katrina Wittier, of Presque Isle, finished in first with a throw of 28-06; Hilary McNamee, of Fort Fairfield, finished in second, with a throw of 28-06; Paige Bradstreet, of Caribou, finished in third, at 27-01; Hallie Bartlett, of PI, finished in fourth at 27-00; and Emily Anderson, of Caribou, finished in fifth at 26-04.
Hilary McNamee, Heather Hathaway and Rose-Mary Williams, all of Fort Fairfield, finished in first through third, respectively, for the discus. McNamee finished with a throw of 83-02, Hathaway, threw 80-02; Williams, threw 78-05. Hallie Bartlett, of Presque Isle, finished in fourth place with a distance of 69-10; Kristen Hebert, of Fort Fairfield, finished in fifth with a distance of 69-06.
Krista Buck, of Presque Isle, finished in first for the javelin throw with a distance of 74 feet and 8 inches; Kyrstin Jandreau, of Presque Isle, threw 71-10 and placed second; Kristen Hebert and Rose-Mary Williams, of Fort Fairfield, came in third and fourth, respectively with distances of 70-01 and 66-00; Danielle Lane, of Caribou, finished in fifth with a distance of 62-07.
On the boys side, for the 100 meter dash, Khalil Lesaldo, of Fort Kent, finished first in 11.8 seconds. Scott Wilson, of Presque Isle, followed in second at 11.8; Robby Blaisdell and Tyler Theriault, both of Caribou, finished in third and fourth, respectively, with times of 12.0. Mathew Pelletier rounded out the scoring finishers with a time of 12.1.
For the 200 meter dash, Ben Smith and Tyler Theriault, both of Caribou, finished in the top two spots, respectively, with times of 24.8 seconds. Scott Wilson, of PI, came in third in 24.8; and Khalil Lesaldo and Mathew Pelletier, both from Fort Kent, came in fourth and fifth, respectively, with times of 25.2 and 25.5.
Ben Smith came in first for the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.3 seconds. Scott Wilson, of PI, came in second with a time of 56.4; Sam Entwisle, of Limestone/MSSM, came in third with a time of 57.0; Kurt Whisler, of Fort Kent, came in fourth, with a time of 57.1; and Jordan Powers, of Caribou, came in fifth with a time of 58.2.
Caribou took all of the scoring finishes for the 800 meter run, with the exception of first place; Corey Park, of PI, took the number one spot, with a time of 2 minutes and 8 seconds. Sam Sheehan, Drew Freme, Josh Tardif and Jesse Stephens took second through fifth with times of 2:09, 2:15 and 2:16, respectively.
In the boys 1,600 meter run, Sam Sheehan finished in first, with a time of 4 minutes and 38 seconds. Corey Park, of Presque Isle, came in second, with a time of 4:42; and Caribou’s Spencer McElwain, Stefan Cszewski and Josh Tardif finished in third through fifth, respectively, with times of 4:42, 4:44, 4:51 and 4:52.
Sam Sheehan also took first place in the boys 3,200 meter run, with a time of 10 minutes and 35 seconds. Spencer McElwain and Stefan Ciszewski, both of Caribou, finished in second and third, with times of 10:47 and 10:49, respectively. In fourth place was Brandon Hafford, of Presque Isle, with a time of 11:11; and rounding out the top five was Tim Freme, of Caribou, with a time of 11:46.
The 1,600 meter race walk top finisher was Devon Stetson, of Caribou, with a time of 7 minutes and 57 seconds. Just behind him was his teammate, Mac Srisamaikul, with a time of 8:33; Noah Rush-Mabry, of Fort Fairfield, finished in third with a time of 8:36; Jared Sleeper and Ian Connolly, both of Caribou, finished in fourth and fifth with times of 8:46 and 9:42, respectively.
In the 110 meter hurdles, Caleb Swanberg of Caribou, just barely beat out Elizan McLean, of PI, for the win with a time of 17.7 seconds. McLean finished in 17.9; Khlil Lesaldo, of Fort Kent, finished in third with a time of 20.1; Zach Townzen, of Limestone/MSSM, finished in fourth with a time of 21.3; and Graham Jenkins, of Fort Fairfield, was fifth with a time of 22.2.
Caleb Swanberg also took the top spot in the boys 300 meter hurdles event, with a time of 45 .3 seconds. In second place once again, was Elizan McLean, of PI, who finished in 46.4; Khalil Lesaldo finished in third, with a time of 48.2; Nathan Ackerson, of PI, finished in fourth with a time of 54.0; and Sam Chasse of Fort Kent, rounded out the scorers, with a time of 54.0.
In the boys 4×100 meter relay, Caribou’s team took first, with a time of 48.5 seconds. Participating for the Vikings team were Tyler Theriault, Rob Schuster, Ethan Willey and Nate Swan. Presque Isle’s team finished in second with a time of 51.1, with Evan Richards, Dustin Graham, Chase Guerrette and Gerard Desjardins participating in the event.
Caribou also took first in the boys 4×400 meter relay, finishing in 3 minutes and 52 seconds; those participating were Jesse Stephens, Caleb Swanberg, Jordan Powers and Ben Smith. Presque Isle’s team finished second with at time of 4:08, with Parker Brown, Elizan McLean, Corey Park and Scott Wilson as the team’s runners. Fort Kent finished in third, with a time of 4:30, with Sam Chasse, Alex Devoe, Davis Cyr and Jesse Jandreau competing.
Caribou finished first in the 4×800 meter relay, with a time of 9:06. The winning team consisted of Jesse Stephens, Stefan Ciszewski, Drew Freme and Spencer McElwain; the boys are also seeded first in the state for the event.
In second for the 4×800 was Presque Isle, with a time of 9:37, and included Nathan Ackerson, Brandon Hafford, Matthew Flora and Corey Park. Fort Kent finished in third, with a time of 9:58, and Ian Kaleta, Sam Chasse, Alex Devoe and Kurt Whisler running the event.
For the field events, Nathan Ackerson and Aaron Nightingale, both of Presque Isle, finished in first and second, respectively, for the high jump. Ackerson cleared 5 feet, 2 inches, while Nightingale cleared 5-0. Derick St. Peter, of Caribou, came in third, clearing 5-0; Nate Cronkite, of Presque Isle cleared 4-10; and Carlin Dubay, of Caribou, also cleared 4-10.
For the pole vault, Carlin Dubay and Will Freeman, both of Caribou, finished in first and second, respectively; with Dubay clearing an impressive 10 feet, and Freeman clearing 9-06. Jesse Jandreau and Lloyd Guerrette, both of Fort Kent, finished in third and fourth, clearing 8-0 and 7-06, respectively. Also clearing 7-06 was Jordan Powers, of Caribou, to round out the top five.
Robby Blaisdell, of Caribou, finished in first for the boys long jump, with a distance of 18 feet and 6 inches. Finishing in second and third from Fort Kent were Jon Potvin and Mathew Pelletier. Potvin cleared 17-11 and Pelletier cleared 17-10. Stefan Ciszewski and Derick St. Peter, both of Caribou, finished in fourth and fifth, clearing 17-03 and 16-05, respectively.
In the boys triple jump, Jon Potvin, of Fort Kent, took first with a distance of 39 feet and 7 seconds. Gerard Desjardins, of PI, came in second with 38-08; Robby Blaisdell, of Caribou, was third at 35-09; Jason Lesaldo, of Fort Kent, cleared 35-06; and Caleb Swanberg, of Caribou, came in fifth at 35-00.
Ian Macomber, of Limestone/MSSM, threw the shot put the farthest at 47 feet and 8 inches. Matt Harris and Ryan Winslow, both of PI, finished in second and third, at 41-02 and 40-07, respectively. For Caribou, Andrew Adams came in fourth, at 39-09; and Jason Johnson, of PI, rounded out fifth at 39-06.
Ian Macomber also took first in the discus throw, with a distance of 135 feet and 8 inches. Jason Johnson, of PI, came in second at 106-08; Jon Potvin, of Fort Kent, was third, at 105-00; Jon Holmes, of Caribou, came in fourth, at 101-06; and Donald Manning, of Limestone/MSSM was fifth, at 100-09.
In the javelin, Gerard Desjardins, of Presque Isle, was first, with a distance of 124 feet, 7 inches. Ian Macomber came in second, at 123-11; Jason Lesaldo, of Fort Kent, was third, at 123-7; Donald Manning, of Limestone/MSSM, was fourth, at 121-02; and Lucas Richards was fifth, at 117-10.
The individuals who qualified will be going on to the Class B State Meet to compete at Windham High School on Saturday, June 2, at 10 a.m.
