Tuesday, May 22
Ashland hosted varsity softball and baseball games against Katahdin, with the baseball team coming out on top at 9-8.
For the Hornets, Isaac Ward scored the game winning run, which was made possible by Justin Belanger’s single. Tyler Cote had three singles and Jeremy Tarr had a double and an RBI single.
On the girls side, Ashland fought hard, but couldn’t pull off a defeat; Katahdin took the 19-8 win at the end of the game. Macy Pelkey singled twice for Ashland and also tripled with two RBIs; Taylor Baker singled three times with one runner batted in.
Presque Isle High School also played doubleheaders against John Bapst, with the girls coming out victorious with a 3-2 win in the first and a 6-4 win in the second game. Although the boys fought hard against John Bapst, they lost both games at 5-4 in the first and 9-3 in the second.
Fort Fairfield played against Southern Aroostook, but lost the game 22-8.
Wednesday, May 23
Fort Fairfield played the Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics teams, with the boys varsity baseball team taking the 3-1 win and the girls losing the game 11-5
Washburn’s varsity softball and baseball teams played against Central Aroostook, with the Washburn Beavers taking the win for the boys at 5-1 and also for the girls at 18-11.
Thursday, May 24
Central Aroostook took on Ashland in both softball and baseball games. On the boys side, Central Aroostook came out with the win at 11-5 and Ashland took the girls game at 18-3 after five innings.
Fort Fairfield’s baseball team played Van Buren, with the Tigers taking the win at 14-13.
Washburn took on Fort Kent, but just couldn’t pull off the win in the two close games. The Lady Beavers lost 6-5 and the boys team lost 4-2.
Ashland’s varsity softball team took on Wisdom in a doubleheader, but lost both games 11-3 and 9-1.
Friday, May 25
Washburn’s softball and baseball teams traveled to take on Fort Kent once again, but couldn’t hold off the Warriors.
For the boys, Fort Kent took the win at 15-6. For Washburn, Adam Thompson doubled twice and also contributed an RBI single.
On the girls side, Fort Kent took the 16-7 win in their home diamond. Kelsee McLaughlin had a double and a single with three RBIs; Amber Palmer had four singles and a runner batted in; and Erica McDougall had two singles.
Ashland’s softball team traveled to St Agatha to take on Wisdom, in a doubleheader. Wisdom took both games at 11-3 and 9-1.
For the Lady Hornets, in the first game, Katie Clark had two singles and Autumn Cobb had an RBI single. In the second game, Cobb had another RBI single and Mindy Chasse also had a single.
Saturday, May 26
Presque Isle’s varsity softball and baseball teams both had doubleheaders against Hermon. The boys team had a record sweep against Hermon, winning the first game 11-6 and the second 17-7.
In the first game, Luke Ireland had a three-run homer and a sacrifice fly, while Amos Dean and Logan York both had two singles and two RBIs. Brennan Shaw singled three times and Bennett Cassidy had two singles and one runner batted in.
In the second game, Dillon Kingsbury and Shaw both singled three times and had two RBIs. Ireland doubled twice and added another single. Dean had two singles and two RBIs, while Dan McCue singled twice.
On the girls side, the Lady Wildcats split the wins with Hermon, and after their defeat 3-1 in the first game, the ‘Cats came back to win the second 7-6.
In the first game, Allisen Donovan had a double and two singles. In the second game Donovan had two singles and one RBI; Heather Fowler singled twice; and Angela Norsworthy contributed an RBI single.
