PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Strawberries, whipped cream and biscuits can only mean two things – scrumptious dessert and the Presque Isle Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual strawberry shortcake sale.
“It’s time again for our annual Strawberry Shortcake Day. The Chamber is pleased to make this delicious offer available to businesses and their employees again this year,” said Allen Deeves, executive director of the PIACC.
On Thursday, June 21, the Chamber will be selling strawberry shortcakes for $3 each at the KeyBank parking lot located on North Street for walk-up customers from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“We will also be making deliveries to the following towns: Presque Isle, Easton, Washburn, Mars Hill, Mapleton, Limestone, Caribou and Fort Fairfield at designated times,” said Deeves.
To qualify for delivery, orders had to be for 10 or more desserts. Friday, June 15, was the cutoff for those orders, explained Deeves.
Money raised with the annual fund-raiser goes toward the Chamber’s operational costs.
“What a great dessert for after lunch, before lunch or after supper,” said Deeves, suggesting employers should, “surprise your employees with this tasty treat.”
Past years’ sales have proven quite successful but Deeves hopes this year’s event is the best yet.
“Help us make this year’s sale the biggest and best ever,” Deeves said.
