Golf scramble to benefit turf project and emergency fund
The first KeyBank “Wildcats” Golf Scramble will be held Saturday, Aug. 25 at Presque Isle Country Club. The proceeds will be used to support the new Field Turf Project at the SAD 1 Stadium Field, as well as the SAD 1 Student Emergency Fund. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top men’s and women’s teams for both gross and net. There will also be prizes for the first hole-in-one, a putting contest, a longest drive contest and closest to pin on the par-three holes.
A barbecue lunch will be provided by Star City IGA.
A shotgun start will get the tourney under way at 10 a.m. Golfers must check in by 9 a.m. The minimum team handicap is 30. The registration fee is $120 per team. To register, call Steve St. Pierre at 764-9423.
Woodsman Open
The annual Woodsman Open Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 1 at Portage Hills Country Club.
Three-person teams will compete in a best-ball format for the first nine holes and a scramble format for the second nine. There are no handicap restrictions. The entry fee is $90 per team.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, but registration will also be held the morning of the tournament from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The tourney begins with an 11 a.m. shotgun start.
There will be divisions for men and women, with cash prizes going to the top gross and net teams. A new car, courtesy of Percy’s Auto Sales in Presque Isle, will be given away to the player with the first hole-in-one.
