Attendance light at Houlton polls

HOULTON, Maine — Voter turnout was light on Tuesday with approximately 809 of the 4,218 registered voters of Houlton in attendance as of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Town Clerk Cathy O’Leary said the numbers of voters were low, but not unusual.
“For this type of election … because it is state referendum questions, it is slower,” she explained. “It’s the local issues that should bring more people out.”
One of those issues was the bond question for SAD 29.
Results will be posted in next week’s edition of the Pioneer Times.
