Open house planned

AMITY — This coming Saturday, Nov. 10, the A.E. Howell Wildlife Conservation Center will be holding its last open house of the season from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event will include guided tours of the refuge by members of the Abnaki Girl Scouts and the center’s volunteer staff.
As an added treat, Arthur Howell will be celebrating the great photography work of the late Bill Silliker Jr. who passed away in 2003. Silliker’s wife Maryellen recently donated his photos and other extraordinary accounts of his life to the center along with the copyright.
Many photographs, books and videos will be on sale during the open house. All monies raised will be used for the ongoing rehabilitation and general care of animals which come into the center yearly.
The center will also be making plans for more educational programs when it reopens on May 1, 2008.
