Searles, Eldon V. Sr., 83, Woodland, in Caribou, November 26, 2007. Arrangements are in the care of the Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou. Eldon V. Searles Sr., 83, died November 26, 2007 at Caribou. He was born at Woodland, March 24, 1924, the son of Perley and Laurie (Grondon) Searles. He served with the US Army during WWII. Eldon was employed for the Aroostook Valley Railroad for many years until his retirement He was a member of the Carson Pentecostal Church and was a member of the Lister-Knowlton Post #9389 VFW and the Henry B. Pratt Post #15 American Legion.
He is survived by a son Eldon Searles II; four daughters Marlene Lint and her husband Merrill of Caribou, Eldina Lockwood of New Haven, CT, Cindy Toubman and her husband Brian of Wilton, CT and Donella Lyden and her husband Tim of Wisconsin, one brother Guy Searles of Caribou; three sisters Carolyn Searles of New Sweden, Marilyn Chase of Woodland and Ollie Soucy of Fort Fairfield; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren including 2 special great-grandchildren who has a special place in Eldon’s heart Arie and Diana Lockwood and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Ethel (Chase) Searles on May 10, 1999 and by two brothers James and Jack Searles.
Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, with evening military services being held by the VFW and American Legion. Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2007 from the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Palmer, pastor, officiating.
