HOULTON, Maine — Christmas time can be challenging for some, especially for those who are shut in. Numerous organizations throughout the community join together to ensure that everyone in need is provided with a holiday dinner one way or the other.
This year, the Houlton Lodge of Elks will hold their annual Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner on Sunday, Dec. 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Christmas dinner will be free to all those who attend.
“This is going to be a turkey dinner with all the fixings,” explained John Bithers, Elks’ member. “Each year we serve between 500-700 people. We have about 350 who come and another 250 that we deliver to.
“Some people who come also want to take some home with them as well,” he added.
The dinner is prepared by the Elks on Saturday, Dec. 15.
