Masardis – Rodney Lincoln Weeks, 89, died at his home on Sterling Ridge Road December 14, 2007. He was born in Masardis December 24, 1917, the first child of Charles L. and Grace Murphy Weeks. Rodney and his wife Frances are graduates of Presque Isle High School, class of 1935 and were married in Masardis June 10, 1939. They returned to The Farm following the death of Rodney’s father in 1941. Rodney expanded the farming operation in the 1950’s by adding a dairy herd to the potato-raising activities and then replacing raising potatoes with the dairy operation in 1960.
After his “retirement” from the farming operation, he drove the Masardis-Oxbow school bus for more than 25 years, safely transporting two generations of children from Oxbow and Masardis to school in Ashland.
He is survived by his wife Frances Lavaway Weeks, their sons John and his wife Ella of Masardis and Charles and his wife Linda of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri and daughter Jane Dunn and her husband Rohn of Gardiner. Also surviving are his sister Barbara Machcinski of Atlanta, Georgia and a brother Burns Weeks and his wife Irma of Presque Isle, grandchildren Todd, Susan, Joel, Jenny, Kimberly, Kevin, Michael, Rodney and Judith and 17 great-grandchildren including their very special frequent visitor Ava Cameron and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother Francis Weeks and sister-in-law Ruth and their children Paul Weeks and Peggy McGaffigan.
Visiting hours will be held at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home in Presque Isle from 12 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19. Funeral services will be held at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, with Pastor Donald Morton Jr. and Kenneth Fox officiating.
