MADAWASKA – Point guard Kellie Peers squared up behind the three-point arc to sink three shots and pace the Limestone Community School/Maine School of Mathematics and Sciene over Madawaska in Monday night mixed-class basketball action.

Peers had the only success in the long-shot and totaled 20 points to the final score, 40-31.
“Our defensive intensity has picked up, and that’s been key,” said head coach Jamie Labreck of the Eagle victory.
The offense also asserted their power in the third quarter to push ahead of the Class C Owls to 35-18.
Senior Melanie Allen added 10 points to the Eagle column.
The Limestone girls fell to Hodgdon on Saturday, 37-35. According to Labreck, the first half of play caused the team to fall behind.
“We didn’t play very well the first half, but we started to step it up in the second,” said Labreck. “But we have to do that in the first half.”
The Eagle girls will have their rematch with Southern Aroostook tonight, and look for success on the home court.
“We played right with them a couple Saturdays ago, so I think we can keep pace with them,” commented Labreck.
The Limestone boys flew to their own victory on Monday night over Wisdom, 55-20.
The Eagles kept a lead all four quarters to claim their fourth win of the regular season.
Brandon Hopkins popped in 10 points, and Michael Allen added nine for Limestone.

Senior point guard Whitney Flint, captained Ashland over the Limestone Eagles, 43-37.
Flint made the baskets for a game-high of 30 points for the Hornet swarm.
Limestone’s point guard Peers flew in the Eagle effort with 14 points. Stacy Bernier added another 10 for Limestone.
Southern Aroostook pulled rank over Limestone in boys’ basketball action on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 72-30 at Dyer Brook. Hopkins put up the biggest points for the Eagles with 10.
Fort Kent dominated over Limestone on Tuesday, Jan. 22 for the final, 65-20, at Limestone. Kellie Peers led the Eagle effort with nine points.
