Hilliard, Muriel E., 87, February 4, 2008.  Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.  Interment to be held in the spring at the St. Mark’s Cemetery, Jackson Falls, NB, Canada.
    HOULTON – Muriel Evelyn (London) Hilliard, passed away at Houlton Regional Hospital on February 4, 2008, surrounded by her family, she was in her 87th year. She was born in Belleville, NB, Canada on March 9, 1920, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Pearl (Robinson) London.
    In 1937 she married the late Walter Metherell, who was killed in action in France during WWII. Together they had a son, Walter Metherell II who passed away February 25, 2006.  Evelyn worked at Walt Disney World for 12 years and then furthered her education at Orlando College, where she received her nursing assistant certificate. She then worked as a private duty nurse until retirement. She enjoyed her work as well as playing the piano, singing at church, and calling on the sick and shut-ins to brighten their day.
    Evelyn is survived by her five loving grandchildren, Wally (Amy) Metherell of Houlton,  May (Ernest) Atkinson of Richmond Corner, NB, Lisa Miles of Houlton, Danny (Joanna) Metherell of Jackson Falls, NB, Robbie (Amanda) Metherell of Lindsey, NB; ten great-grandchildren, Kristy, Nicholas, Ryan, Kaleb, Olivia, Caitlin, Alex, Nathan, Maria and Mary Drew; step-daughter, Crystal (Ambrose) Pomroy of Gardiner; two sisters, Vivian McCarthy of Oceanside, CA, Thelma London of Windsor, CT; one brother, Eugene (Glenna) of Hartford, CT; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband, Walter, and son Walter II, she was predeceased by her husbands, Arnold Ambrose, to whom she was married to for 30 years, and Fred Hilliard to whom she was married to for 11 years; a granddaughter, Eve; a great-granddaughter, Sarah; and one sister, Glenna Thorburn of Davidson Lake, NB.
    Friends called 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water Street, Houlton ME where funeral services were held 11 a.m. with the Rev.  Rick Carver officiating.  Interement will be at the St. Mark's Cemetery, Jackson Falls NB, Canada.
