GIVING BACK – The Houlton Savings Bank of Maine became a major sponsor of the Houlton Little League Field of Dreams project. At the check presentation were, from left, Evelyn Pratt, Dean Clark, vice-president of Houlton Savings Bank of Maine; Jacob Condon and Allix Hanson; back, Ben Drew, Little League president and Al Butler, senior vice-president of Houlton Savings Bank of Maine.
“On behalf of the Houlton Area Little League, I would like to extend our thanks to the Savings Bank of Maine and Dean Clark for making this “Field of Dreams” start to become a reality,” said Little League President Ben Drew. “A contribution of this magnitude shows how committed they are to our area youth, the Little League organization, and the greater Houlton community.”
Houlton Savings Bank of Maine will be recognized for years to come as a ball field will be permanently named after them and Houlton’s Little Leaguers will reap the benefit of their generosity. At Savings Bank of Maine, the staff believes that being a good neighbor and giving back to the communities that they serve is a benchmark of their success, according to a press release from the bank.
By providing the first field sponsorship, the Savings Bank of Maine is “excited to provide the foundation for a youth program that will positively impact the lives of many of the area youth for years to come,” the release said.
The sponsorship supports the bank’s cooperate giving goal of making a positive impact on critical needs in the community. It is a project that will enhance the quality of life, and it is an important investment in the youth, explained the release.
The total project will cost $95,000 to build four more Little League fields in Houlton. Two of the fields will be built adjacent to the Houlton Elementary School and the other two will be built behind the Houlton Southside School.
