LAGRANGE – Richard A. Libby, 82, died April 4, 2008, at a Bangor healthcare facility after a period of ill health. Richard was born Sept. 6, 1925 in Fort Fairfield the son of the late Ernest and Olive (Sprague) Libby. Richard served in the U.S. Army and served with distinction in WWII. He married Theresa (Cyr) Libby on Oct. 18, 1945 after he returned from WWII. They settled in Caribou and raised two sons. Richard was an extremely hard working man. He worked for many years in Caribou for Pete Beaulieu and for his brother-in-law Albain Cyr at Cyr Brothers. In 1966 the family moved to Coventry, Conn. where he worked for Red-Lee Metal Finish Co. in Manchester. In 1972 the family returned to Maine and settled in Bangor where Richard worked for Merrill Transport until his retirement.
In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by his siblings, Harold, Gilbert, Adelaide and Dora. He is survived by two sons, Donald and his wife Deborah of LaGrange, Roderick and his wife Angela of Livermore, Calif.; a granddaughter, Karen and her husband John Anderson of Catabawa, Va.; a brother, Ernest Jr.; and sisters, Mary Fournier, Cathy Holt and her husband Tim of Conn., Elizabeth of Texas; along with many nieces and nephews.
