Dana Corbin, left, presents Caribou High School Principal Mark Jones with a check for $1,005 as a result of the four-month, Hannaford Helps School program where consumers who purchased specified General Mills products had the opportunity to designate which school would benefit from the purchase. Overall the Caribou High School received a total of $2,005 from this effort as a previous check in the amount of $1,000 had been awarded earlier to the school.
The check, the second of two, was made available as a result of the grocery store’s promotion, Hannaford Helps Schools.
Through this program, consumers who purchased specified General Mills products were encouraged to assign the box tops from these products to the school of their choice. The General Mills School Dollars were collected from Sept.-Dec. 4, 2007.
Corbin stated there were seven local schools that benefited from this program as well as two individual home school recipients.
Corbin noted that Caribou High School received a total of $2,005, with an estimated $930,000 from Hannaford Helps School, distributed throughout New England.
` Other schools receiving funds were Caribou Middle School, Teague Park School, Hilltop School, and elementary schools in Caswell, New Sweden, Limestone and Woodland.
