AMHC Sexual Assault Services commemorates April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, with a variety of activities to improve awareness and education about sexual assault and the nature of this crime.
Again this year, AMHC is partnering with Houlton Farms Dairy to fight sexual harassment and abuse by distributing 50,000 specially printed half pint milk cartons with the slogan, “Know What 'No' Means", to Aroostook County schools and Tim Hortons’ Houlton store. The cartons promote AMHC Sexual Assault Services Support Line for information and support about how to protect yourself and others from sexual harassment and abuse.
AMHC is also conducting a “Track Suit Campaign” by seeking donations of personal items for victims of sexual assault to donate to the four Aroostook County Hospitals. Various boxes will be set up around the county for a collection of toiletries, track suits, and undergarments.
Sexual Assault Services will also be selling Chocolate Ribbon Pops to raise monies for the Victims Fund. The Sexual Assault Team has partnered with Rachael Burbee, the owner of Goddess Chocolates, to make the chocolate pops and they can be purchased from any member of AMHC Sexual Assault Services for $3. AMHC Sexual Assault Services awareness pins and bracelets will also be sold for $3 each.
