The Presque Isle Bantam hockey team would like to begin by saying thank you to the local Rotary and Kiwanis organizations for supporting the hockey program for years, and making it possible for local youth to enjoy a sport they love.

This year’s Bantam hockey team worked hard to learn how to play as a team.
By the end of the season, they showed their competitors what a team could accomplish.
The Bantams began the season with the basics: working on cycling, passing, breakouts and team defense. The players quickly moved from one level of difficulty to the next, until even the coaches expectations were exceeded.
The athletes moved the puck quickly and with accuracy. Each player knew how and where to skate with and without the puck, making it difficult for their opponents to stop attacks. The players let their competitors know that the Bantams were going to score and continue to score throughout the game.
The final month of hockey was exciting and rewarding, winning the final nine games and capturing both the Bangor Friendship Championship and the District 2 Championship in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick.
This year’s team was led by returning players Josh MacFarline, Jordan Hallett, Derek Sczuroski, Isaac Lajoie, Cody Merrill, Evan Waddell and Hillary Albert.
First year Bantam players were Nic Davis, Connor Shaw, Grant Lundquist, Nathan Sperrey, Kate Campbell, Ross Harris and Luke Brabrant.
The staff included manager Bryce Waddell and coaches Sean Duplessie, Peter Campbell, Robert Albert and Greg Hallett. In conclusion, the biggest thanks goes to the parents and spouses who supported all the teams’ efforts throughout the season. Without their support, the success of the team wouldn’t be possible.
