Officials with the Sheridan Corporation announced that it is recommitting its financial investment in the Aroostook Partnership for Progress (APP), a private-public economic development partnership created in 2004 to stimulate the economy of Aroostook County, according to and APP announcement on Monday.
Mitch Sammons, vice president of finance and administration of The Sheridan Corporation, made a pledge of $20,000 for the partnership.
“We understand that continued economic growth and vitality in all parts of the state are vital to Sheridan Corporation’s continued success,” said Sammons in the company statement.
Sheridan is headquartered in Fairfield, just north of Waterville.
“We are happy to again contribute to the Aroostook Partnership for Progress in its efforts to grow the economy of northern Maine,” Sammons said. “We view this project as a strategic investment that has already resulted in increased business activity. It makes perfect sense for us to continue being a part of this effort.”
Larry Shaw, chairperson of APP, expressed appreciation for the renewed investment.
“It’s committed partners such as Sheridan that helps us to continue marketing the business opportunities of northern Maine to other parts of the state, the United States, Canada and Europe,” Shaw said.
A full-service general contractor, the Sheridan Corporation has been serving the state of Maine for more than 50 years. Among its projects in Maine, Sheridan was the general contractor of Wal-Mart’s expansion of its Presque Isle store into a full-service Supercenter.
The Aroostook Partnership for Progress mission statements and goals are focused on results-based strategies that facilitate economic development throughout the county by implementing a firm-specific transactional approach to business recruiting and by building on the region’s existing strengths and assets.
The Partnership’s four primary mission statements are to enhance Aroostook County’s economy, market the region to the U.S., Canada and Europe, develop northern Maine downtowns into attractive and vibrant business centers; and facilitate an effective economic development dialogue for the region.
