Junkins, Vernon C., 85, Masardis; in Masardis, May 2, 2008. A graveside service will be held at the Masardis Cemetery on May 31, 2008, at 11:30 a.m.

 

ImageMASARDIS – Vernon C. Junkins, 85, died at his home, Friday, May 2, 2008, with his family present. He was born on July 8, 1922 in Masardis, the son of Herman and Levine Searway Junkins.
    Vernon was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corp. and was also a member of the Ashland VFW. Vernon worked as a Machine Operator for the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad until his retirement on June 6, 1985. He then spent many enjoyable years helping his son-in-law, Peter, with his carpentry business. Vernon loved boating and picking fiddleheads. He was an avid vegetable gardener and loved planning and planting with his dear neighbor and friend, Jon. He had a great sense of humor and loved telling stories.Image
    Vernon was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, his daughter, Patricia Poitraw, and his sister, Vera Smith. He is survived by three children, Dawn and her husband Peter of Masardis, Jacqueline of Houlton and Debra Helmick of North Dakota; his sister, Leone and her husband Louis Kern of Massachusetts; 10 grandchildren, Kelly, Kimberly, Peter, Jamie, Angel, Shawn, Shelly, Ry, Chanel and Shamara; several nieces and nephews.
    A graveside service will be held at the Masardis Cemetery on May 31, 2008, at 11:30 a.m.
