PRESQUE ISLE – Well Spring Health Center, located at the Aroostook Centre Mall, is currently offering a meditation program once a week.
“This meditation program will meet for four consecutive Tuesday evenings beginning on May 27. The program runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and the cost is $40 for the complete program,” said Dr. Eva Shay, who’s in charge of the facility.     Raphael Gribetz, a highly-trained meditation instructor who has been very involved with meditation practice, awareness training and the application of meditation practice in daily living, will be instructing the sessions, said Shay.
“Mr. Gribetz has been a meditation practitioner for the past 12 years and has had amazing success in the utilization of meditation as a way to understand our habitual patterns. He teaches that through meditation we learn to look closer at our habitual patterns and in so doing initiate the possibility for change,” said Shay.
Gribetz had been scheduled to instruct an eight-week course at the University of Maine at Presque Isle but found the cost of such a class was prohibitive for those interested in signing up.
“I only had a few people sign up. I had several people indicate they’d been interested but found the fee for the class was out of their reach. My new class at the mall is more affordable. And if a person is interested but only can attend a few classes, they need only pay the $10 per class for whatever they attend. The cost is much more affordable,” said Gribetz.
Gribetz said the class at the health center will focus more on technique and will incorporate the use of poems, meditation and other methods to promote relaxation. He expressed his gratitude to the university for providing him such an opportunity, even though things didn’t go as planned.
“The university was very generous and encouraging. I’m still considering a course perhaps in the fall at UMPI,” said Gribetz.
Gribetz is looking forward to instructing the course at Shay’s office.
“Eva met with me and we worked out a plan for classes that wouldn’t interfere with her staff and clients. She’s been very helpful and I look forward to teaching others how to use meditation to improve their lives,” said Gribetz.
Shay said the program will work well with what she and her staff are trying to do at the office.
“We at the Well Spring Health Center are very excited to offer this program to the community. The center’s commitment to better health is clear in bringing this inspiring meditation program to the public. We hope individuals are interested in this path of self-awareness and we look forward and welcome all participants,” said Shay.
