With the July 4 weekend coming up, VaJoWa is in excellent shape. Come out and enjoy the great scenery and course conditions, as well as some beautiful weather. A special rate of $40 for 18 holes and a cart will be run for the holiday weekend from Friday through Sunday.
The annual Flag Day Tournament will be held on July 4. This can be played anytime before 3 p.m. You can set up your own pairing for the event. Each player is given a flag and when he or she reaches their target score, the flag is placed on the ground where their ball lies. The target score is 72 plus whatever your handicap is. The cost is $10 per person. This will not interfere with regular play, so if you choose not to participate you can still play.
The Member-Guest  Tournament will be held on July 12. The cost is $120 per team and includes the golf and cart, dinner and prizes. The format is a two-man best ball with 80 percent of handicaps.
On July 19, VaJoWa will host the Second Death to the White Birch Tree Scramble. The cost is $15 for members and $45 for guests. Teams will be chosen through a random draw. Once again the winning team will get to cut the tree down in front of the number-one green or choose to save it.
Congratulations to the team of Aaron Flannery, Scott Flannery, Greg Douglas and Fred London, who won the ABC Scramble in 21 holes. Three teams tied for first and in a sudden death playoff, a birdie on number three gave them the victory. It was an exciting event and finish.
