The Mars Hill Rotary Club met at the Aroostook Health Center on Tuesday, July 1, at 6:30 a.m. The special speakers were Joe Shaw, Connie Durost and Bud Porter. They spoke about the upcoming ACI/CAHS Reunion, which will be held on July 24-26. A list of events planned is available at www.sad42.k12.me.us. Click on “District Office” and then “Reunion Information.”

This will be the sixth ACI Reunion, the third for CAHS. The combined reunions are held every fifth year, with dinners, parades, class get-togethers and much more planned each year. This year, the group will combine with Bridgewater for Saturday night’s dance, which will be held in Bridgewater. Bridgewater is holding their Sesquicentennial Celebration over the same weekend, so there should be plenty of activities for folks to enjoy.

Crime Stoppers Golf Tournament
The 17th annual Crime Stoppers Golf Tournament will be held at the Mars Hill Country Club on Saturday and Sunday, July 26 and 27. This 18-hole, four-person scramble will have both Ladies’ and Men’s Divisions. Tee-off times are 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. each day.
There are over $6,000 in cash and prizes that will be given away, as well as hole-in-one prizes of a free lease on a 2008 Toyota Tacoma and $10,000 in cash.
Call the Mars Hill Country Club at 425-4802 to reserve your tee time now!

Bridgewater Community Club
The Bridgewater Community Club will hold a fashion show on Thursday, July 24, at 7 p.m. at the Bridgewater Free Baptist Church in conjunction with Bridgewater’s Sesquicentennial Celebration. The show will feature fashions from each decade beginning with the 1850s and ending with current fashions.
The Club will meet every Thursday at 7 p.m. until the July 24 show to work on the event. These work sessions will be held either at the church or at the home of Pat Lenentine at 386 Main Street in Bridgewater.
Anyone who has fashions for the show, or who would like to model or help with the show, is invited to attend the work sessions.
The goals of the Community Club are to promote friendship among women of all ages and to undertake projects that improve the community. Membership dues are $1 per month, and all interested women are invited to attend. For more information, please contact Pat Lenentine at 429-9444.

Bridgewater Creative Crafting
On the first and third Thursdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Community Center in Bridgewater, crafters are encouraged to join together to work on various projects. Bring your own supplies and projects as you share your knowledge of various crafts. Work together or individually with quilting, knitting, sewing, embroidery, crocheting, scrapbooking, etc. Everyone is welcome! For more information, contact Chris Finemore at 425-6606 or Melody Goff at 420-4002. Come relax and enjoy yourself as you socialize with other crafters.

BHA
The Bridgewater Historical Association is continuing with their live music on Thursday evenings from 6 – 9 p.m. The musicians are there to have a good time. They play old-time rock and roll, country, standards, originals, etc. So grab your dancing shoes on and come on down to the BHA Hall (formerly the Odd Fellows Hall).
All proceeds from the music events will go toward a new PA system for the hall. The BHA would like to extend their sincerest thanks to all who support their efforts. It is very much appreciated. To contact the BHA, their mailing address is P. O. Box 341, Bridgewater, ME 04735. The president is Denis Gagne (429-8290), secretary is Jann Votaw (425-7901).

Summer reading program
The Walter T.A. Hansen Memorial Library is holding a summer reading program each Tuesday from 2 – 3 p.m.
The first week, July 1, over 70 children and 15 adults enjoyed learning about Africa, tried pumpkin soup and heard of the African fable, “Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears.” On July 8, children learned about Asia. Other continents will be studied each week: July 15 – Australia, July 22 – Europe, July 29 – North America and August 5 – South America.
The children are introduced to a new continent each week and will receive a stamp for their “passport.” If your child would like to attend, please contact the library at 429-9625 about a registration form. By pre-registering, they can have a “passport” ready for your child.

Library
The Walter T.A. Hansen Memorial Library is continuing with an ongoing Book Sale. Cost for the books is .50 for hard cover and .25 for paperbacks. There are also bags available to fill for $5. Old and new copyrights for adult and children are available. Fiction, nonfiction, westerns, science fiction and romance are among those currently on hand. There are also children’s books for sale, so plan to stop and check things out. Stock up now for your summer reading! Monetary donations will also be accepted.
