Town officials should support police in drug enforcement

To the editor:
A few weeks ago my husband and I decided not to write anything to put in the paper because it was not doing any good. But something has showed us a different light. People are calling more when they see something going on in their town. They are calling the police more.     Do you know that the police can’t do it all? And, the parents can’t do it all. Some people are telling us that the police know who are dealing these drugs and are not doing anything about it. I am not sure that the statement is true. I believe that the town officials know what is going on in their town and will not do anything to stop it.
I think it is time for town officials be held responsible when a teenager takes their own life. These small towns have to open up their eyes and see and know what is going on. We have friends that hire teenagers to work for them, and they complain that the teenagers don’t want to work. Well if they are high on drugs they can’t work anyway.
What kind of a “County” have we become? Are we going to let our young people just kill themselves? Maybe we are going to have an opinion like this “Well if that teenager kills him/herself we don’t have to spend any more money on that teenager because he/she is dead.”
I think that people in Aroostook County are better than this. I think the problem is that when the people go to the town officials and they close the door on them and they have nowhere else to turn.
A special thanks to all the police officers and the drug enforcement agents in Aroostook County for a job well done.
