Still just as popular as the day it began
GOING STRONG — The Peanut Carnival is as popular today as it was in 1958. In the photograph above, children line up to turn cash in for peanuts to play games. This year’s 53rd annual event will be held August 6 with a parade through Market Square, starting at 10 a.m. The Peanut Carnival will be held the next night, August 7, with loads of children’s games from 6-7:30 p.m. Peanuts will be the currency of the night for the games, just as it was in the beginning. Coronation of the King and Queen will be held in the Houlton Recreation Center at 8 p.m.
