CARIBOU – The Presque Isle MMG Blue Heat and Katahdin Trust of Caribou 13- to 16-year-old girls’ softball teams wrapped up the summer season with a doubleheader at the Caribou High School field on Saturday.

The Blue Heat tallied up the runs for a double-victory 14-10 in the first game and 18-8 in the second.
In the opener, the Blue Heat batted onto the scoreboard with three runs, but Caribou answered back scoring five runs in the first two innings. The Blue Heat kept the lead with six runs in the third inning and five between the fourth and fifth innings.
Courtney Colligan belted two hits while Alecia Palmer, Jenna Stephenson, Karlee Bernier and Chelsea Carroll had one hit each for the Blue Heat.
Danielle Violette and Ashley Doucette both had two hits for Caribou. Madison Outing, Danielle Soucy, Tia McHatten, Annelies Walker and Kelsie Espling added on hit each including a double by McHatten.
In the second game, the Blue Heat took off with seven runs in the first inning followed by nine in the third to answer Caribou’s five-run second inning, to capture the lead.
Stephenson swung for three hits for Presque Isle. Palmer and Stewart doubled while Bernier and Liza Buck both added one hit.
Espling and McHatten both had two hits for Caribou, and Outing doubled. Emily Staples also had one hit in the contest.
