KYLE BARTLEY, a firefighter with the Presque Isle Fire Department, explains what each piece of a firefighter’s equipment does during ACAP’s annual cookout this summer at the Public Safety Building on North St.
Each year, the department hosts children enrolled at ACAP’s Parsons St. facility, giving the youth guided tours of the building, allowing them to climb aboard the trucks and explaining what each truck’s purposes is in the event of a fire, teaching children how to escape a fire through the use of the department’s ‘fire house’ – complete with smoke. The children then get to enjoy lunch with the firefighters.
