Easton high school opened its home basketball season Monday night with back to back home games against Greater Houlton Christian Academy.
The Easton Lady Bears premiered in their first home game this season but fell short to the Lady Eagles with a 47-25 loss.         Sydney Trask was the Bears’ high scorer with 6 points, and despite the loss, the girls’ came off the bench fired up.

Coach Dennis Anderson was able to have the entire team play at some point, and Marissa Parlin came off the bench earlier than expected because of some foul trouble in the post positions. She played a solid defense, diving after loose balls, causing tie ups and showing intensity, according to Anderson. Abigail Poole and Samantha Fuller both pressured the ball well, causing turnovers.
Anderson is looking ahead to the Lady Bears’ game against Fort Fairfield on Thursday positively. “This was our first game and we had some difficulty with the pressure that GHCA put on us from the start. We will make some adjustments and I’m confident that this will be a good learning experience for us as a team.”
The Easton Bears varsity boys’ team took the court at 7 p.m. Monday night for their home game against GHCA.
Leading the team in a 62-38 win was senior Brad Trask, banking 23 points for the Bears. Sam Bacon added 18 points as well. With Friday night’s win against Washburn, Easton now boasts a 2-0 record.
Trask also dominated the court Friday night against the Beavers. The game, a high paced back-and-forth match in Washburn, displayed much of the team’s endurance and energy. Washburn proved to be significant competition for the Bears, but determination payed off as Easton walked away with a47-41 win.
The Bears are off until   Saturday, when they  travel to East Grand.
