Lemos, Donald M, 74, Cross Lake, December 22, 2008. There will be a full military committal service at the Caribou Veterans’ Cemetery on January 16 at 1 p.m.

    CROSS LAKE – Donald M. Lemos of Cross Lake passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on December 22, 2008; he was 74 yrs.
    Mr. Lemos was born in New Bedford, MA, after his parents immigrated from the Azore Islands, Portugal. He joined the Marine Corps after graduation and proudly served his country for over 28 years. He served several tours in VietNam, received numerous awards and medals and received the Presidential Unit Citation. He retired in 1976.
    Mr Lemos returned to college after receiving his degree in education, enjoyed going to remote areas to serve when his needs were needed most. He returned to Maine where he again, retired.
    He enjoyed the outdoors and it was hard to track him down as he was always off on an adventure riding 4-wheelers with his sons, fishing and boating.
    Mr. Lemos was involved in local veteran’s affairs by being a member of the Stockholm VFW.
    Mr. Lemos leaves behind his loving and devoted children: Dawn M. Lemos-Hite, Kenneth M. Lemos, Jason M. Lemos and Robin Rene Lemos-Dye. He is predeceased by his son, Scott M. Lemos and his beloved granddaughter, Jennifer Austin.
    There will be a full military committal service at the Caribou Veterans’ Cemetery on January 16, 2009 at 1 p.m., with a reception following at the Crown Park Inn, Caribou.
