Nothing signifies the start of New Year in Aroostook County quite like a snowstorm. On Jan 8, Aroostook residents experienced a storm that blanketed varying inches of snow on top 2008 snow piles.

Limestone crews worked hard on the morning of Thursday, Jan. 8 to remove snow from the sides of the roads before the storm hit that evening.
Stockholm received the most snow in this recent storm, recording 7.5 inches. The amount of snow deposited by the storm varied by location: Caribou received 7 inches, Fort Fairfield received 6.7 inches, Presque Isle received 6 inches, and Houlton received 3 inches.
