Aroostook league cheering competition
The Caribou High School will host the 2009 Aroostook League Cheering Competition Friday, Jan. 16. The competition will begin at 7 p.m. and there is an admission fee. Adults are $5, Students are $3. Please direct any questions to the Caribou High School Athletic Department at 493-4274.
8th grade basketball update
The Caribou 8th grade boys’ team lost to the Presque Isle white team on Jan. 7 40-36.
The Vikings trailed by 12 points in the second half, but made a comeback due to tough defense to make the game close. The Vikings had a balanced scoring attack.
Aaron Trefethen, Brandon Donovan and Kaleb Corriveau each had 6 points, and Brendan Wood and Nick Matlock both put in 5 points. Dean Walker and David Pelkey played well on defense.
Caribou beat Fort Fairfield 43-24 on Jan. 9, breaking open a close game with a fourth quarter surge to get the win.
The Viking defense made numerous steals in the fourth quarter and were able to pull away from the Tigers.
Leading the scoring for Caribou was Donovan with 10 points and Corriveau with 9. Devin Berkoski added 7 points and Wood chipped in with 5. Other Vikings in the scoring column were Walker, Trefethen, Zac Gorence, Grant Bennett and Dustin MacDougal.
