Injured— Warren Gellerson is confined to the house on account of an injury received by being thrown from his wagon. New horses — Wilmont Briggs, one of Monticello’s prominent farmers arrived in Houlton April 3rd on his way home from Ontario with some imported horses. Mr. Briggs went to Canada in search of a farm team and found what suited him in a pair of registered Clydesdale mares, both are large and well built and each is expected to produce a foal this spring.

Houlton —Principal Milton B. Lambert has announced the honor parts for the 1934 graduating class as follows: Leah Dickinson, valedictorian; Jean Wilder, salutatorian and a tie for third honors, Marjorie Boles and Leta Hawkes.
Sherman Mills — The lower dam by Gallison’s Mill went out last week and a small piece next to the ledge of the dam in the village. Molunkus Stream has been the highest this spring since 1923.
Salvation Army — It has been 47 years since the Salvation Army started its operations in Houlton. The first years of the Army were years of misunderstanding and much opposition by the public and the Army suffered much persecution. Chamber of Commerce — “Promote Houlton Business by Patronizing Local Merchants” is a new project outlined by the chamber.
Houlton Industrial Park — Aubrey McLaughlin, executive vice president of the Houlton Regional Development Corporation reported evidence of increased interest in businesses moving to the park. The park was formerly the Ryan farm.
4-H delegate — Miss Rita Kingsbury of Bridgewater was selected as South Aroostook’s delegate to the State Revue, which will be held in Orono.
Hodgdon — Principal Paul Kelly of Hodgdon High School has announced the honor parts of the Class of 1959 as follows: Valedictorian, Joan Wallace; Salutatorian, Charles Kinkade; First Honor, Lois Gaudette; Second Honor, Ruth Stewart and Third Honor, Francine Bartlett.
HHS news — Students participating in the All-Maine Concert Festival are for band, Carol Benn, Larry Hall, David Lawrence, Karen Milner and Sarah Haskell accompanied by Joseph Tufts, Jr. Chorus members are, Mary Lou Downie, Lucia Madigan, Judy Carson, Sally Wakefield, Irene Bell, Jeanne Josselyn, Linda Ellis, Mary Donald, Beverly Hurd, Ralph Nickerson, Terry Saunders, James Craigs, James Wheeler, Robert Ellis, Ray Deveau, Scott Bither, James Donald and Herbert Gentle. Ruth Mooers is the choral director.

Dyer Brook — Principal Philip Crosby of Southern Aroostook Community High School, has announced the honor parts for the Class of 1984 as follows: Valedictorian, Debbie J. Ireland; Salutatorian, Stephanie Perrin; First Honor Essayist, James Ackerson; Second Honor Essayist, Jolynn Tarr.
On tour — Rick Nickerson and Gail Jackins members of the University Singers of the University of Maine at Orono will leave for a tour of Europe.
On the river — Both the weather and water conditions were ideal for the 8th annual Mednuxnekeag River Canoe Race. There were 118 participants. The team of Cronin and Willette posted the fastest time, 1:24.34.
Littleton — Michael Miller and Tessa Campbell both fourth-graders were crowned King and Queen of the Littleton PTC Fair.
Coleman honored — Paul Coleman was guest of honor at a retirement dinner. Coleman, superintendent of the Houlton Water Company is retiring after 35 years of service.
