Littleton – Iola Jessie (Watson) Kneeland, 82, wife of the late Leonard Calvin Kneeland, went home to be with her Lord, June 1, 2009. She was born in Littleton, June 16, 1926 the daughter of Ellery and Muriel (Nason) Watson.
Iola was a lifelong resident of Littleton and a 60 year member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Monticello. Iola taught Sunday school for many years and was a leader in the Awana Club. She and Leonard enjoyed working in their flower gardens and kept the church beautifully decorated with their fresh and silk flowers. Iola also enjoyed button collecting, was a member of the Button Club and Red Hat Society. She enjoyed painting, rug hooking and camping. Iola was a hairdresser for 25 years in Littleton. She will be remembered as a loving and caring, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Iola was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Leonard, in 2008. She is survived by her son, Lory Calvin Kneeland and his wife Julie, of Pomfret, CT; her daughter, Andrea R. Kervin and her husband Michael of Winterport; one brother, Lawrence Watson and his wife Judy of Houlton; one sister, Ruth Williams of Littleton; four grandchildren, Kristie Reese and husband Ken, Matthew Kervin and wife Lisa, Nathan Kneeland and fiancé Tiffany and Melanie Hurlock and husband Bill; three great- grand-children, Kaylie, Michael and Elizabeth; sister-in-law, Hazel Akeley; and brother-in-law, Philip Kneeland; nieces, nephews and a very special young lady, Karla Arceneaux whom Iola thought of as her second daughter.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2009 ,at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden, with Pastor Wayne Buza officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Interment will be beside her husband in Littleton Cemetery at approximately 3 p.m. After the interment all are invited to share in refreshments and a continued time of remembrance at Iola’s sister, Ruth’s home on Cary Lake in Littleton.
