OXBOW — A two-story home at 833 Oxbow Rd. was destroyed by a mid-afternoon fire Monday.
“We were called out about 1:40 p.m. to the report of a house fire in Oxbow. The property is owned by Jeff and Becky Knight,” said Masardis Fire Chief Steve Sherman.
According to Sherman, relatives of the Knights were living at the residence but were not home at the time of the fire.
Masardis and Ashland fire departments responded to the scene, with Portage Fire Department covering Ashland’s station.
“The Maine Forest Service also sent a truck to help us out,” said Sherman.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Sherman said an insurance investigator was on site Tuesday trying to determine a cause.
“The insurance investigator was here a while ago. It’s believed the fire was electrical in nature,” said Sherman in a Tuesday phone interview.
The home was deemed a total loss. The property was insured.
