Heal Points show Caribou near top

    Aroostook County squads hold prominent stature in the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Points Standings for games  played through Sept. 15. The fall season marks the first session under the new MPA guidelines for playoffs that sees 50 percent of the teams qualifying for postseason play.     Preliminary playoffs begin Oct. 23 (girls) and Oct. 24 (boys) in Class B, with quarterfinals starting Oct. 27-28.
Boys Soccer
    Caribou (2-1-1, 5.3699) is third in the 18-team Eastern Maine Class B region. The top nine squads make the postseason.
    For Eastern Class D, all of the local squads are presently in the playoff picture. Limestone-Maine School of Science and Mathematics (2-6-1, 17.4107) is fifth; Washburn (2-9-1, 11.4158) is seventh; and Fort Fairfield  (3-6, 7.6351 points) is ninth. The top 10 squads make the playoffs.
Girls Soccer
    Caribou (4-2, 12.9592) is second in EM Class B. Like the boys, the top nine squads make the playoffs in this division.
    In Eastern Class D, Fort Fairfield (6-2-1, 23.6862) is ranked fourth, while Limestone-MSSM (5-3-1, 19.7832) is sixth and Washburn (1-7-3, 15.8801) is seventh. The top eight teams make the postseason.
