PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle continued to ‘go green’ this fall, with the addition of shrubbery near the entrance of its buildings.

Individuals going to and from Folsom Hall at UMPI may have noticed a few upgrades outside the north entrance to the facility, including a bench and greenery — items donated by Caron’s Lawn and Property Maintenance, of Presque Isle, to help beautify the campus.
“Caron’s provided $5,000 worth of landscaping and a bench. The University extends a large thank-you to Caron’s for making this possible,” said Keith Madore, director of alumni relations, during an unveiling ceremony held this fall.
Madore said Caron’s staff were to be commended for making the area a more appealing place for all who visit the campus.
“The signature area (outside Folsom Hall) is now this lovely area,” said Madore.
UMPI President Don Zillman said the project only serves to enhance the University. Zillman presented a plaque expressing gratitude for the donation, which read, “In appreciation to Caron’s Lawn and Property Maintenance for their landscaping gift, Fall 2009.”
“We’re glad to help beautify the building,” said Scott Caron, accepting the plaque on behalf of the company. Caron co-owns the business with his father, David Caron Sr. and his brothers David Jr. and Chad Caron. Matt Leavitt joined the brothers in accepting the honor.
Caron’s has had working relationship with the University for a number of years.
“We appreciate the good work you do on campus,” said Charlie Bonin, vice president for administration/finance at UMPI.
“It’s a pleasure to be able to give a gift like this to the University,” said Chad Caron. “We hope people traveling to and from Folsom will enjoy the area for many years to come.”
