After nearly six years of growing his hair to meet the required length, Eric Cone finally met his goal. On October 8, at Cone’s request, Rebecca Cowperthwaite Smith, seen with Cone in the photo, arranged his hair in 11 braids and then cut them off for Locks of Love. The non-profit organization provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under 18 years of age who suffer from long-term medical hair loss. Ten inch braids like the ones Cone is holding, or ponytails, are the required length to use in wigs. But the organization also sells shorter pieces to offset their costs. More information is available about requirements and donations at: locksoflove.org.
