Officials at Northeast Publishing Company in Presque Isle have dedicated the March 2010 issue of County Crossroads magazine to the upcoming USSA Cross-Country Junior Olympics to be held March 7-13 at the Nordic Heritage Center.

Hotels, motels and inns within a 30-mile radius of Presque Isle are filling up rapidly as racers, their coaching staff and family and friends are making plans to travel to northern Maine for the event.
In order to help promote this major Aroostook County event, expected to draw 400 of the nation’s best young cross-country ski racers who hope to become the next national champions, every page of the March issue will be devoted to the Junior Olympics and its impact on the region.
This special issue, filled with feature articles on the important series of ski races and competitors, as well as information on the local organizers and army of volunteers who represent Maine Winter Sports Center and its world class Presque Isle venue, the Nordic Heritage Sport Club.
County Crossroads, published monthly on topics ranging from winter recreation to summer fun, is distributed throughout the county as well as at Maine tourist information centers along I-95. Extra copies of the March issue will also be printed since the magazine will also serve as the official event schedule and program for the Junior Olympics.
“This special issue will be a keepsake for the athletes, coaches and spectators. The articles and advertisers will showcase Aroostook County as a destination for not only excellent skiing and winter recreation, but as a wonderful place to live and do business in,” said Roger Tremblay, Northeast Publishing’s director of operations.
The March County Crossroads will also be inserted directly into Northeast Publishing’s three weekly newspapers in Aroostook County on Wednesday, March 3. Advertising information and rates are available at: The Star-Herald in Presque Isle, 768-5431; the Aroostook Republican in Caribou, 496-3251; or the Pioneer Times in Houlton, 532-2281.
