Devotions were led by President Eldora Carter, followed by the readings for the day and the repeating of the UMW Purpose. Prayers were said for those on the prayer list.
The president reported on the last meeting in the absence of the secretary, Marjorie Corey. Under new management, the group voted to send $50 to the Red Cross for Haiti earthquake victims. It was also voted to hold future UMW meetings on Tuesdays following the Church’s Ad Council meeting. Members are to bring a sack lunch and the hostess for that month will serve refreshments. Nina Trask will be hostess for the month of February.
Those present were Eldora Carter, Freda Dionne, Nina Trask, Glenice Craig, Lindy Fowler and the hostess, Marie Hewitt.
The Easton Happy Days Senior Citizens’ Club held their Jan. 28 meeting at the West Ridge Rd. Manor rec room with 14 members and a guest, Rec Director Hillary Trainer. The group enjoyed pizza from the Country Farms Market. The store also sent up a free serving of chocolate chip cookies to the group.

Under old business, the Nominating Committee brought forth a list of new officers for the new year, 2010. After reading a resignation note from President Marie Hewitt, Vice President Nina Trask was asked to take that position. She agreed to do it with the guidance of Marie and help from Lois Ladner. Liana Demerchant will be the new vice president. Eldora Carter will return as secretary, with Ezalee Smith as assistant. Ida Doak will stay in the office as treasurer, with Joanne Johnson as assistant. The list of new officers was accepted.
Under new business, it was voted to send $25 to Project Graduation and $25 to the Ronald McDonald House. Ida made a motion that she would like to purchase two or more plastic storage bins to store the Club’s material in and it was seconded and passed. She also stated that dues are due. Only three or four people are obligated to pay dues of $1, as those over 80 are not called to pay dues. Eldora Carter stated that she didn’t think it would break those seniors over 80 to kick in $1 too, and she proceeded to do that herself. Others also donated their dollars.
