Wildcats compete in Class B ski meet

PRESQUE ISLE — The Presque Isle Alpine and Nordic ski teams had a rough outing Feb. 16-18 in the state Class B championships. The Presque Isle girls Alpine squad finished seventh in the Giant Slalom (142 points), but did not place in the girls Slalom or the combined division. The Wildcat girls Nordic squad finished seventh in the skate race (116 points); were seventh in the Classic race (120 points); and finished seventh in the combined division (236 points).
The Wildcat boys Alpine squad finished seventh in the Giant Slalom (131 points); was eighth in the Slalom (151 points); and was eighth in the combined Alpine event (282 points). In the Nordic competition, Presque Isle finished 10th in the skate race with 176 points; was ninth in the Classic race (169 points); and was ninth in the combined Nordic event (345 points).
In the combined Nordic and Alpine team scoring, the Presque Isle boys were eighth (627 points).
Emma Bartlett finished fifth in the Skimeister race with 135 points, while Chelsey Carroll was seventh (165) for the girls. For the boys, Adam Curtis was eighth (166), Justin Towle 12th (205) and Thomas Freeman, 13th (218). The Skimeister event combines scores from all four skiing competitions.
