To the editor:
On Sunday, April 25 the Ark Animal Sanctuary held its first community clean-up day on Old Woodstock Road. I can honestly say that the community spirit is alive and well in Houlton, Maine. We had 20 people show up to volunteer, they came with chainsaws, weed whackers, a four-wheeler, wheel barrows and with smiles on their faces.
Everyone worked hard for a good cause. We accomplished more than we had hoped for and we had a great time doing it.
I would like to personally thank all those who volunteered, you helped us get one step close to our dream. We were able to spend a beautiful day in the sunshine and fresh air working hard, meeting new people and making a difference. It’s days like these that makes me proud to be a part of such a great community.
Thank you so much it was truly a pleasure working with each and everyone of you. I hope to see you all again at future community clean-up days.
