    Per Maine Statute Title 7 Section 3923-B:
    Dog owners are required to attach State of Maine License Tag and Rabies Tag to the collars of dogs, except while hunting, in training or exhibition.
    From my standpoint, if you have the required State of Maine tag, or a tag with your name, address, and phone number, and I find your dog loose or lost, I have the contact information to return your dog to you; this will save your dog a trip to the Animal Shelter and added expense to you, the owner, for the shelter fees.
