KVHC providers receive prestigious faculty appointments

Tod Twichell, D.D.S., received a Faculty Appointment from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, in November 2010. KVHC partnered with Tufts to become a Community Learning Service Externship Site. Third- and fourth-year Tufts Dental Students will complete a clinical rotation at KVHC’s Millinocket dental clinic, with Dr. Twichell as the preceptor.
“While it is an honor to be named a clinical instructor, I credit KVHC as an organization for having the foresight to become involved in the training of new dentists,” said Dr. Twichell. “Given the serious shortage of dentists in this part of Maine, it is our hope that providing a positive experience for students during their externship at KVHC will encourage some to return and practice here after graduation.”
Donald G. Blagdon, M.D., received a Faculty Appointment from Boston University Medical Center, in January 2011. Dr. Blagdon has been a preceptor for medical school students for the past 9 years while employed at KVHC.  He is much sought after for his rural medicine knowledge and long history of family practice.  KVHC, with Dr. Blagdon, agreed to clinical rotations from 5 Medical Schools.  Dr. Blagdon noted, “I am quite honored to have this recognition from all the previous students and faculty at Boston University Medical Center. I do believe that my 30 years in small town, mostly solo, rural practice have passed down to me “many a small pearls of wisdom” that my students have fun with and pass on to their classmates.”
