Oakfield seniors meet
Peggy Sanders
Twenty-six senior citizens met at the Oakfield snowmobile club for thier second meeting in February. We want to thank the club for letting us use the building. After an excellent lunch our president, Bob Lock, led us in the Lord’s Prayer and the flag salute. Then a business meeting was held.
The secretary’s and the treasurer’s report were read and accepted. Wanetta Townsend gave the card report. Marie Gillotti decorated the club. Good job Marie. We decided for our next meeting to have hot dogs. Every one is to bring salads, beans, desserts and anything that goes with hot dogs.
The 50-50 was won by Shirley Smith. We had a report from assistant executive for Linda Barlett Hazel Beers. Attending were Tessie Barrett, David Burpee, Merle and Evelyn Burpee, Bernice Campbell, Jeanne Clements, Arlene Friel, Thelma Flowers, Mildred Gagnon, Marie Gillotti, Mary Lawler, Wanetta Townsend, Bob and Delores Locke, Don and Charlotte Marley, Peggy and Larry Sanders, Roger Ethier, Shirley Smith, Geneva Bell, Kathern Boutlier, Pete Peterson and Elden Peterson and one guest, Maeva Buckman.
Patten Women’s Club
The Patten Woman’s Club met Tues, Feb. 15 at Meadowbrook Manor. Michelle King of Braveheart in Island Falls was our guest. She and her husband are trying to open a boys home in the Miliken Home there. There were 11 members present.
Sherman seniors gather
The Sherman Area Senior Citizens Club met on Wednesday for a delicious lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the Sherman gym.
Although our number has been reduced to only eight these midwinter months, it is amazing that the variety of food selections to choose from is always tempting and delicious.
Our next meeting will be on March 2, when we’ll expect a better turnout and better weather conditions. Spring is “just around the corner.” Do come! You have been missed.
We had two different speakers at this meeting. Our RSVP lady, Linda Bartlett, comes to us from Oakfield and had up-to-date things to discuss with us.
Clare Desrosiers talked about prescription drug diversion, which was very informative and thorough, using aids of typewritten sheets for us to take home and keep handy, to review and to remember. Thank you very much, ladies.
Present were Fred and Annie Atkinson, Bonita Staples, Linniea Perry, Esther Greenier, Eva Perry and the speakers mentioned above.
