Jeff McCarthy and Nick Crane were chosen for the first-ever Rising Star Award, which is presented to young people involved with agricultural fairs during the Maine Association of Agricultural Fairs annual meeting held from Jan. 27-30. They received the award for their hard work and dedication to the Houlton Fair and its livestock department. McCarthy and Crane have been livestock superintendents for two years and, according to Paul Cleary, fair president, “They have done an excellent job for us.” There are 26 fairs that are members of the Maine Association of Agricultural Fair.
