Veterans

When I think about you and me,
I know what it’s like to be happy and free.
We often don’t think about why it’s so nice,
How our veterans old and new have paid the ultimate price.
We go about our lives day after day,
Thinking our freedom will always be ok.
We don’t think about the cost or what gave us the right,
We should thank all of those heroes that put up the fight.
It is about what they gave us and not what they said,
I am thankful for our heroes, alive, wounded, and dead.
My Grampy is a veteran of Vietnam and the Gulf War,
He would give his life to his country, we couldn’t ask for more.
We hope he has peace in the big battlefield above,
Free of the memories and the torment and he feels nothing but love.
So on this Veterans Day give all of the veterans their due,
Give your respect to our veterans, and tell them I love you.

Veterans thanked for freedom

Veteran
Very brave to do their duty,
Everyone should thank them for their sacrifices.
They all went through so much, fought battles,
Even made our country free.
Respect and honor them for risking their lives for us,
All of the Veterans are important
Now and then we remember them, once a year on Veterans Day.
So thanks to all our Veterans for giving us freedom.

Thoughts for a Brave Veteran

My veteran, you are so brave,
It is your hope that I crave.
You risk your life in war,
Which means we may see you no more.
I am grateful for your dedication,
And all your honor and love of our nation.
I sincerely love what you have done,
I respect your great salvation.
You’ve got such great strength and commitment,
I hope you find fulfillment.
You give up your freedom and your life,
Even if you have a child and wife.
Thank you, and in conclusion
I love you and that’s no delusion.
You are my hero in Afghanistan,
You are my veteran.

Poem honors those who serve

Veteran
Fearless, mighty
Daring, upstanding, sacrificing
Serving for our country
Navy
American Flag
Honorable, respected
Representing, standing, waving
A very honorable flag
American banner
War
Gruesome, dreadful
Appalling, sickening, revolting
Horrific place to be
Conflict
Freedom
Independent, liberty
Flexibility, choosing, unruling
Freedom is not free
Self-government

Thanking vets for freedom

Faith in you
Risking your lives
Everyday strength
Entering a dangerous place for our country
Doing your duties
On our behalf
Make way for the Veterans

To the Veterans who have lost your lives

There are many of you,
But to the ones you love
What would you say?
Would you ask questions?
Would you tell them you love them?
If you had one chance to come back to your loved one,
Would you tell them you love them?
Hug them like never before?
Give them the kiss you missed.
TO the Veterans who have lost your lives just know no one will forget you.

Vietnam

All gave some, some gave all,
Some are engraved on this wall,
They gave their lives,
And left their wives,
Walking through the thick muck,
While they were fixing their truck,
The sight of victory getting dimmer,
Then the soldiers’ hope starts to glimmer,
They get the news,
They get to snooze,
They go home,
With broken bones,
All gave some, some gave all,
Some are engraved on this wall,
They gave their lives,
And left their wives,
