Sports
The team comes out, ready to fight. Struggle to ignore the roaring crowd. Concentrating on nothing, but the ball. Sweating, tired, yet still pushing them to win. Win or lose, the team still has confidence, and holds their head up high. The scoreboard has reached a tie, we’re counting on our team to win, and shoot the final winning, basket. 5 seconds left and he shoots, 4, 3, pressures on, 2- he misses, we lost, but the team holds their confidence, and shakes their opponents hands. They head to the locker room with disappointment. That’s a true Wildcat.
School
New school, new teachers, new people, new schedule. The pressure of moving on from Elementary, to Middle School. Nervous, Excited, Anxious, Scared, Happy. No idea what or how to feel. The lockers, hard as ever to open on your first try. Walking into your brand new school. Not a clue where to go, everything’s new, your classes, harder than you expected, stress, pressure, drama. All the things of entering the Presque Isle Middle School … Home of the Wildcats.

One time, we were doing a unit on Canada. After we did all the studying and hard work, we had a potlatch. The potlatch was fun, and a new experience to many. We had new things to try, such as meat, Shepard’s Pie, and other food items. They all had something to do with what your province or territory was growing. I thought that was fun, and also, I learned quite a bit more stuff about Canada.
After every quarter is done, the school hosts a dance for all the students to attend. If you are failing two or more classes, you can’t participate in this fun activity. The school also has basketball and soccer teams. Any student is aloud to try out, unless you are failing two or more classes. There are also other sports and team activities, such as, wrestling and baseball.
The teachers have also come up with after school, or during school activities and clubs. A few of them would consist of, band, jazz band, chess club, science club, and chorus. These activities can happen during school, such as band and chorus. Other can happen after school, such as science club and jazz band.
Also, every month, your two teachers discuss on who should be the next Student of the Month. After they decide, they write the names down, and send them to the office. Then, the student that got picked, is delighted to have a lunch out with a teacher and also the pride in being the S.O.M. (student of the month).
Our school is a great place and those are just a handful of all the fun and good-learning experience activities and challenges that consist in the PIMS.

As I walked through the middle school doors on that scorching day, I could feel the rush of adrenaline. The door handle was cold, it jumped my hand as I grabbed onto it, but it was a relief to get into the cool air conditioning breeze, it blew up to greet me. I will never forget the feel of the first day. I was proud to be older and in the 6th grade, but at the same time, I knew I was only half way through my school years. The works going to be harder, the drama’s going to be worse. I felt excited and frightened by the whole thing. I didn’t know what to expect, I took each step with the beat of my heart, it made a rhythm. I looked around and thought “breathe, everything’s going to be ok, calm down”. I entered the gymnasium doors frightened to see all the older people, it was a large crowd, but then I saw my friends I hadn’t seen in a while. I saw people I didn’t even know. I was comforted to go sit next to my old friends and to feel normal, having something familiar with me. I exchanged some friendly smiles with some people that seemed familiar, and then sat down on the bleachers.
Middle school had a different feeling than Zippel, I can’t explain it. It felt like I was now responsible for myself. I have four friends I can always count on that keep my secrets and always stay trustworthy. They know everything about me. Since that day, I’ve changed. I don’t hang out with some of the people I used to hang out with; I don’t even talk to some of my old friends. I’ve noticed the ways my best friends have changed, some for the better, some for the worse. People change, middle school changes people. There are always surprises, each day I walk through the doors and wonder “what’s going to happen today …” I study and listen in class and always keep my grades A’s and B’s. I love going to sports games.
I love watching our team play basketball. I love hearing the noise the net makes when the ball swishes into the basket; it reminds me of the cool breeze that hit me the first day of school. I can still hear the first bell that rang the very first day, ringing through my head, like the buzzer sounding at the end of the game. I love watching the players eyes, you can see the focus and the courage they are building up inside. All they want is to win. They work as hard as they can. The never walk off the court ashamed; They always hold their heads up high and always remember that if they work their hardest, they
Are the true winners.
We are the true winners.
We work to be the best.
We are the best.
We are the Wildcats!
