Houlton boys tennis team ends solid season

The Houlton High School boys tennis team finished their season last Friday with an Eastern Maine Class C quarterfinal loss to visiting No. 6 Washington Academy, 4-1.
The No. 3 Shiretowners’ only win was in doubles play when Craig Thomas/Cody Woods defeated Jordan Porter/Jacob Brizee, 6-1 and 6-3.
    In singles action, Houlton’s Lucas Anderson fell to Wei Yen Huong 6-0 and 6-2; Zach Harvey was defeated by Washington Academy’s Romayn Richards, 6-1 and 6-3, while Houlton’s Tyler Delano was bested 6-2, 6-2 by Nick Raye.
In a tight match, Houlton’s Avery Kibler/D.J. McGary went down to Jordan Spencer/Caleb Beal, 6-4, 4-6 and 6-1.
The Shiretowners finish with a 10-3 record.
