Aroostook Times
Ludlow — Mrs. Manley Drake is suffering from a number of bee stings received while raspberrying.
St. Mary’s — Application for entrance to St. Mary’s Academy of Aroostook should be addressed to the Mother Superior at Houlton, ME and they will receive prompt attention.
New owners — Six sisters of Charity arrived in Houlton and took possession of the Mansur property on Water Street, recently sold to the Catholic Diocese of Maine, August 5. The buildings are to be repaired and the stable is to be made over into a boarding school.

Danforth — The town has been a bee-hive of activity thus far as the town celebrates its one hundredth year of existence.
Experiment — Much interest has been aroused by the appearance here of airplanes for dusting potato fields, a novel method for this section of the country.

WPA — The Works Progress Administration has selected for operation through April 15, 1936, 120 projects in Aroostook County amounting to $754,921.
Potatoes — The first carload of the 1936 crop of potatoes to leave Aroostook County this season was shipped from here this afternoon by Linwood B. Rhoda and was consigned to M. Carp & Sons, Boston. The car contained 200 barrels and brought a price of $3 per barrel.

Houlton Pioneer Times
Church — Work on the addition to the Military Street Baptist Church is progressing this summer. The $100,000 educational building is being constructed by Vaughn Hersey of Houlton.
East Grand Lake — Frank Beaulieu of Houlton suffered minor injuries in a water skiing accident. He sprained his ankle seconds before going up and over a water jump. Losing his balance he struck the water receiving cuts on his head which required several stitches to close. He was being towed by his father Edmund Beaulieu of North Street.
Warning — The Houlton Water Company renewed its appeal to growers drawing water from B Stream for spraying purposes to be more careful in this phase of their farming operation.

King and Queen — Jasmine Skehan, daughter of James and Lynn Skehan of Houlton and Travis Hill, son of Gary and Patty Hill of New Limerick were crowned Peanut Carnival King and Queen.
Local — Tammy Hovey credits the town of Houlton and its people of the community with a portion of her personal success and hopes at some time in the future to return a portion of that success to this area. She currently resides in California and is head coach of all recreational and competitive programs at the Yuba-Sutter YMCA.
Honored — Joyce Fitzpatrick recently received the honor of being selected “Insurance Woman of the Year” by her peers from Aroostook County. Fitzpatrick’s employed by the F.A. Peabody Insurance Company.
SAD 29 — Schools in SAD 29 will open with an anticipated enrollment of 1,546 students reported Supt. William McDonnell.
Tax rate — The Houlton Town Council accepted a 1986 tax rate of 26 mills during their regular meeting.
